Newsbrief: Sign of the Times
If they weren’t before, the media has definitely begun to pay attention to the woes of the unemployed (or in this case underpaid), and many are suggesting interesting and innovative ways for the unfortunate to get back on their feet. The Wall Street Journal’s online edition has devoted an entire portion of their Career section, called “Reinvent”, to lending ideas for entrepreneurship and career, you guessed it, reinvention. This interesting human interest piece (check out the video below) appearing in WSJ’s career section today details the popular new old-fashioned way to make some extra dough– selling hot dogs. And US News and World Report published a short article on last-ditch efforts to remain employed including starting your own business as well as taking on an unpaid internship to sharpen some new skill sets. Unfortunately, however, some outlets have found a way to capitalize off of lay-offs such as with this questionable, if not downright tasteless, reality tv show.
