About Me

Bev Weinstein is a media virtuoso and career advice guru. She is the founder and president of Markham Media Executive Search, one of New York’s premier recruiting firms, and a career advice columnist on MediaPost’s MediaDailyNews.com. Her weekly “Dear Bev” columns dispense practical career tips for today’s volatile marketplace.

Bev’s expertise stems from over three decades working in the media industry.  Previously, Bev spent over 20 years as a successful advertising sales executive, holding senior positions at some of the world’s top media companies. Bev worked as the first Director of Sales for MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon as well as Senior Vice President at iconic movie studio Orion Pictures. Prior she was an Account Executive at CBS and the Vice President of Sales for Whittle Communication, an out of home media company. She has done consulting projects for PBS stations and was retained to work on the ad sales launch of The WB Network. Bev began her career in advertising sales at Woman’s Day Magazine.

Over a decade ago, Bev shifted gears and put her broad knowledge of the media industry to task in forming Markham Media. Her depth of experience makes her acutely in tune with the challenges of finding and hiring a candidate with the perfect combination of skills and experiences for each unique position and client and her extensive network of contacts across the media landscape has allowed Markham Media to consistently find top notch candidates in traditional and digital media and to place itself amongst leading recruiting firms.

Bev’s  unparalleled understanding of what employers seek and the challenges that job hunters face coupled with her firm grasp on the changing industry, make her an ideal source of wisdom and advice for anyone within the media world. After years of dolling out advice to colleagues and job seekers, Bev decided to put her NYU journalism degree to work and began answering the many questions that job seekers are pondering in her “Dear Bev” columns. Bev is a frequent lecturer on career topics and most recently spoke at Vault’s Back to Work: Jump Start Your Job Search seminar in January 2009.
